Gladys L. Williams, 75, of Mt. Auburn, IL passed away at 8:44 A.M. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in Vonderleith Living Center, Mt. Pulaski, IL.
A service to celebrate Gladys’ life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 2, 2011 at Mt. Auburn Christian Church, Mt. Auburn, IL, with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Auburn Christian Church or the American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home, Decatur, IL.
Gladys was born on August 9, 1936 in Mt. Auburn, IL, the daughter of Arthur F. and Hazel (Tucker) Williams. She was retired from the Mt. Auburn School District after twenty-seven years of service. She was a member of Mt. Auburn Christian Church.
Gladys is survived by two sisters, Irene Jackson of Decatur and Linda Porter of Niantic; nieces: Wendy Leonard and husband Gary of Pleasanton, KS, Sherry Carey of Mt. Auburn, Hope Allen of Decatur, Sue Uber and husband Jeff of Riverton, IL, Jacki Alsobrook and husband Jim of California, Penny Kruger and husband Victor of Champaign, IL, Nancy and Peggy of Arizona; nephews: Ronnie Jackson of Florida, Larry Porter and wife Sherry of Decatur, Mike Porter and wife Renee of Niantic, Jerry Singer of Arizona; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Singer of Arizona; and life-long friend, Alberta Ridgeway of Taylorville. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Paul, Larry, & Bill Williams.

I never knew Gladys until she moved to Kansas with Wendy. What a pistol! She loved her John Wayne movies and fishing. God bless and keep her safe with him.
